Agatha Christie's Plots: Gardens in her Life and Writing
Our speaker is Esme Miskimmin, a Senior Lecturer at Liverpool University, who apart from her academic teaching enjoys her allotment and researching different aspects of crime fiction and its authors, focusing on particular writers of the Golden Age such as Agatha Christie and Dorothy L Sayers. Esme has written several articles for Clue: A Journal of Detection and was the editor of 100 British Crime Writers published in 2020.

The Great Milford Bake Off
Have you every thought of entering in the Home Produce section of our Flower Shows but been unsure how to get those perfect bakes? Our speaker, Sally Grammel, will guide us through choosing a recipe, looking to see if the ingredients will work and how much should you make. She will tell us what makes a tasty item and how different products can make that all important tasty treat. She will also cover presentation and the storage of your items before the show.

We look forward to seeing more entries from our members, both male and female, in the June and September shows!

Mini Spring Show
Those members who took bulbs home in the autumn to show this evening will have their daffodils, hyacinths and blanda anemones judged by Jeff Peach, who is a member of the Surrey Guild of Horticultural Judges and Lecturers. Jeff will follow this with one of his entertaining talks.

Flowers for All Occasions
Our speaker is Elizabeth Barralet, a demonstrator and flower arranger with extensive experience. The flower arrangements Elizabeth creates during the evening will be raffled after the demonstration. Why not come and be inspired to enter your own creations in our Summer and Autumn Shows?

The Development Of Millais Nursery
Daniel Turner who is the new owner of Millais Nursery in Churt will be talking to us about the development of the Nursery. Having worked as Nursery Manager at Millais for a number of years Daniel became the new owner in May this year following the retirement of David Millais. They are the proud recipients of five consecutive RHS Flower Show Gold awards and received the Royal Warrant in 2018 from the then Prince of Wales, now King Charles. He will be bringing stock to demonstrate his talk to us.

Super Seasonal Displays - Mark Saunders
Mark, who is Head Gardener at Fittleworth House, will talk about how to get the best seasonal displays in our own gardens. His talk will be illustrated by his beautiful prize winning photography which illustrates his wide ranging interest in plants and gardens.

Milford Village Fete. At this moment in time it is undecided whether the Milford Village Fete will be held this year, however if it does go ahead we will need plenty of plants for a stall. If you are splitting any plants please pot on a few that can be sold to support the Society. If the fete does not take place we will look into holding a plant stall at the Hall.
June 18th
In conjunction with Witley Gardens Association there will a visit to Witley Manor, Petworth Road. Details to follow later.
June 28th
Summer Show held in Milford Village Hall at 2pm
Set up details will follow for the night before. All entries must be submitted by THURSDAY 26th. Why not enter your prize blooms or produce? If every member entered one exhibit what a colourful display we would have and hopefully encourage more new members to join us!

Social Evening
Our annual Social Evening is a buffet laid on for members and their guests. Please bring your own plates, glasses and cutlery and anything you would like to drink. Always a popular evening! Tickets must be purchased in advance to allow the committee to arrange the catering details. Details to follow at a later date.

Anyone wishing to enter their exhibits in the show must have their entry form, to be found in the Society schedule, in by 7pm on the Thursday before the Show. Entry details and forms are to be found in the schedule.

Perennials and Grasses a talk by Marina Christopher
Marina specialises in hardy herbaceous plants which are selected for benefiting insects particularly pollinators. She wrote the monthly Plantsman's Choice series for Gardens Illustrated together with articles for a number of other journals. Details to follow.

How to Grow Alliums a talk by Jackie Currie.
Jackie holds the National Collection of Alliums and is an expert whose medal winning specimens can be found exhibited at RHS Flower Shows Hampton Court and Chelsea. More details to follow.
